(1) The benchmark for reading content standard 1
for a student at the end of grade 4 is the ability to:
(a) make predictions and connections between new
material and previous information/experiences;
(b) incorporate
new print/nonprint information into existing knowledge to draw conclusions and
make application;
(c) provide
oral, written, and/or artistic responses to ideas and feelings generated by the
reading material;
(d) demonstrate basic understanding of main ideas
and some supporting details; and
(e) accurately retell key elements of appropriate
reading material.
