37.98.1715 HIGH ADVENTURE REQUIREMENTS: BASIC/SINGLE-PITCHED ROCK CLIMBING AND RAPPELLING (1) The following requirements apply to basic/single-pitched rock climbing and rappelling: (a) The climbing supervisor and the climbing instructors must have verified knowledge of technical climbing by completion of a course, a climbing school or a minimum of 10 hours of instruction. (b) Each rock climber must be visually supervised by the climbing supervisor or a climbing instructor. (c) Youth waiting to climb must be supervised by a staff member. (d) A belay must be used during rappelling, and all climbers must be belayed in a top rope manner by a climbing supervisor, climbing instructor or by another staff member trained by the climbing supervisor or a climbing instructor as a belayer.
